This new ensemble brings together housing for the elderly, for people with multiple handicaps, and two residences for pensioners and students respectively. Based on the idea of shared facilities and services, the concept envisages large areas equally accessible to all inhabitants. The project distributes three large housing blocks around a central patio open to the sky; these buildings for their part preside over a series of gardens. This spatial arrangement makes it clear that this is an institutional whole, but at the same time a fragment of the semi-urban landscape of the plateau of La Gradelle. The original approach situated built elements in a fluid fashion within the natural environment while at the same time creating new central points and giving the "village square" a modern meaning. The project pays homage to this persuasive vision of development, of the extension of the city, while at the same time evoking the spatial design of the priories of former times.
